Athens-based NGM Energy, together with Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (Cyprus) as fleet technical manager, is in the process of rolling out a major upgrade of its vessel IT infrastructure, with improvements to its connectivity, virtualisation, and cybersecurity capabilities.
The company has partnered with Navarino to equip the ships with Starlink’s 1TB plan, in combination with Fleet Xpress or other Ku-Band VSAT services where applicable. Starlink will act as the primary link, with the other options to serve as a backup for full connectivity redundancy.
The shipping company has also installed Navarino’s Infinity Plus 450 system to deliver virtualisation capabilities that will allow the vessels to use virtual machines and other applications, while Navarino’s Angel cybersecurity platform will be integrated into NGM’s infrastructure to provide protection against cyber threats.
SentinelOne EDR is being used to secure local PCs and devices onboard the vessels with an additional layer of protection against potential malware, ransomware, and other cyber threats, including automated threat detection so that security incidents can be swiftly identified and addressed.
“I am very proud of our partnership with NGM and BSM, and I believe Navarino’s solutions can really help enhance their IT operations for both business and crew needs,” said Ioannis Brougiannakis, Navarino’s Account Manager for NGM.
“By combining our high-speed connectivity, with virtualisation, and powerful cybersecurity tools, NGM is building the ideal IT environment for today’s digital maritime era.”
