Danica and IMEQ collaborate on AI monitoring of crew wellbeing

Danica Crewing Specialists has partnered with the Innovative Maritime Emotional Intelligence Centre (IMEQ) to offer AI-powered services to Danica’s ship owners to monitor the mental health and wellbeing of their seafarers.

IMEQ’s team of psychologists has developed a psychosocial risk assessment tool for shipping personnel, with crew members taking the assessment anonymously in one of 11 languages via IMEQ’s maritime-specific platform. It takes 15 minutes to complete.

An AI-generated reporting system uses that data to produce actionable reports, accessible through a dashboard to allow HR and crew managers to navigate the findings and identify issues on particular ships or across whole fleets.

The psychosocial risk assessment identifies factors like burn-out, workload imbalance, bullying and harassment to enable companies to address issues before they impact ship operations, with IMEQ’s psychologists offering tailored suggestions and recommendations.

“Seafaring is a challenging job and it’s important to have systems in place to support crew in the workplace. The safety of our crew and the ships they serve on is paramount and the IMEQ service is an important tool assisting us in ensuring safe vessel operations,” said Henrik Jensen, Danica CEO.
