Bearing AI introduces Cargo Prediction system

Maritime artificial intelligence firm Bearing AI has unveiled its new Cargo Prediction tool, designed to allow tramp chartering managers to predict a vessel’s next loading port, to support more competitive pricing and better strategic positioning.

The system replaces the standard return route backhaul in TCE calculations with an AI-powered prediction of the next loading port, with the aim of minimising ballast voyages and optimising backhaul strategies with improved insight into cargo demand.

“With AI-powered Cargo Prediction, we’re giving chartering managers new insights to outmanoeuvre the competition and make every voyage more profitable,” said Aleksandar-Saša Milaković, Senior Product Manager and Naval Architect at Bearing AI.

“It’s not just about winning the next bid—it’s about seeing what’s ahead, positioning strategically, and unlocking the full earning potential of every vessel.”

Demand data can be accessed for a specific vessel by region and time window and compared to historical averages or seasonality expected by the competition. A colour-coded map displays unexpected demand spikes and dips for a vessel across regions, and identifies opportunities near discharge ports to minimise ballast voyages.
