Lloyd’s Register (LR) has completed an organisational restructure to create a new LR Advisory service, a global team of approximately 150 experts that will aim to assist the industry in addressing escalating regulatory demands and the increasing influence of digitalisation.
The move sees LR consolidate its Technical Advisory and Business Advisory divisions into a single, integrated unit. LR Advisory will offer shipowners, charterers, and financiers guidance on regulatory adaptation, energy efficiency, and operational performance.
The new advisory structure also integrates data analytics and digital tools to help owners optimise fuel consumption and operational efficiency, with the aim of delivering tangible financial and environmental benefits.
“Shipping is facing an unprecedented transformation. Historically, the industry has been reactive, but the scale and complexity of today’s challenges—from fuel transition strategies to digital performance optimisation—demands a proactive, strategic approach,” said James Frew, LR Advisory Director.
“It’s about fundamentally rethinking how ships are designed, built, and operated. This involves embracing new technologies, exploring alternative fuels, and optimising performance to reduce environmental impact and improve profitability. We are now proactively shaping the future, rather than simply reacting to it.”
“With nearly 150 experts globally, we are well-positioned to support businesses navigating today’s turbulent shipping markets. Whether it’s a small independent owner struggling with compliance or a multinational corporation investing in green shipping solutions, we’re here to help them stay ahead of the curve.”
