Port of Drammen upgrades digital systems

Port of Drammen has implemented a new port management system from Grieg Connect to support its digitalisation efforts, replacing its legacy software with a cloud-based platform to manage vessel calls, cargo handling, rentals and invoicing.

The upgrade was completed in April and includes the use of Grieg Connect’s PORT system, with modules covering port call management using AIS and geofencing, cargo registration via the Port Community portal, and mobile support for operational tasks.

A rental module is also in place to manage buildings and outdoor areas, alongside access to a data warehouse for improved analysis and reporting.

The system is integrated with Norway’s SafeSeaNet (SSN) to receive vessel call data from national authorities and is also connected to the local terminal operator’s TOS, allowing cargo data to be automatically shared. Invoicing is managed through Visma Global.

“We envision increased efficiency by managing all activities in one system,” says Morten Hansen, Port Inspector at Port of Drammen.

“From day one, PORT GO has elevated us from older work order routines to a more modern order processing approach. Strong enthusiasm within our team made it possible to get up and running quickly.”

The port handled more than 116,500 imported vehicles in 2024, a 10% increase on the previous year. As part of its sustainability strategy, Port of Drammen aims to become an emission-free facility by 2030, supported by investments in shore power, electrification and digital systems to improve efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
