Parlevliet & van der Plas (PP) Group has agreed a deal with Inmarsat Maritime to install the NexusWave connectivity service on 12 factory trawlers.
NexusWave is a fully managed bonded connectivity service featuring segregated crew and business networks, providing secure access to internet services for personnel without impacting critical vessel operations.
The upgrade is also intended to support compliance with evolving fisheries monitoring regulations. From Q1 2026, for example, large trawlers operating in Scottish waters will be required to supply CCTV footage as part of new sustainability rules.
NexusWave’s aggregated bandwidth has demonstrated real-world download speeds of 330–340 Mbps and uploads of 70–80 Mbps during testing.
