Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has introduced SmartDAS, a berthing monitoring system designed to support data-led decision making in port operations.
The system detects approaching vessels up to 200 metres away, capturing key data such as distance, speed, and approach angle. That data is integrated with AIS to match vessel identity with berthing activity, with everything stored in the cloud to allow operators to monitor, review, and analyse performance remotely.
SmartDAS includes configurable alarms, with mobile LED display boards available to provide real-time guidance to vessels. The system also allows operators to replay previous berthing sessions and generate performance reports.
The system has initially been adopted at sites including a container terminal in Australia and an oil terminal in California.
