Kongsberg Gruppen has announced plans to demerge and list its maritime division as an independent company, to allow the business to increase its focus on its portfolio of automation, digital and control technologies for the maritime industry.
Kongsberg Maritime provides integrated vessel systems covering automation, propulsion, navigation, dynamic positioning, and remote operations. Its portfolio includes K-Chief automation systems, K-Pos dynamic positioning, K-Bridge navigation, and Kognifai digital platforms for fleet optimisation and data analytics.
The company also develops hybrid and electric propulsion systems, underwater robotics and autonomous vessel technologies.
Following the spin-off, Kongsberg Maritime will continue under the leadership of its current president, Lisa Edvardsen Haugan, with Mette Toft Bjørgen as Chief Financial Officer. The company will retain its headquarters in Norway and operate as a standalone maritime technology firm listed on the Euronext Oslo Stock Exchange.
Kongsberg Gruppen will consolidate its defence and technology businesses, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and Kongsberg Discovery, into a single company focused on security, surveillance and other systems for civil and defence applications.
The demerger plan is expected to be published in December 2025, with shareholder approval in January 2026 and trading of the new Kongsberg Maritime shares beginning in the second quarter of 2026.
