PSA Singapore has deployed a digital radio communications system from Motorola Solutions to improve efficiency across its operations, including the Tuas Mega Port expansion.
The TETRA communication system currently supports more than 4,000 users with an average of 540,000 voice calls made daily to coordinate port activities.
PSA Singapore facilitates the movement of more than 40 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) annually across 600 ports.
“The development of the Tuas Mega Port is a long-term strategic investment that leverages advanced technologies and innovations to strengthen Singapore’s competitiveness, resilience and agility in managing the growing complexities and challenges of global supply chains,” said Philbert Chua, Container Division Managing Director of PSA Singapore.
Tuas Mega Port is being developed in four phases and is intended to become the world’s largest fully automated container terminal. Once fully operational in the 2040s, it is expected to have a handling capacity of up to 65 million TEU annually.
