ABB and Cydome have announced a collaboration to assist shipping companies in strengthening their risk management, with the partnership to focus on feeding weather routing and voyage optimisation data from ABB into the Artificial Intelligence (AI) risk management engine from Cydome.
The integrated technology aims to provide ship managers with an overview of risks across their fleet and onboard operations. By cross-referencing data from ABB with local sensor information, the companies claim that the system is able to detect anomalies with higher accuracy.
“By integrating ABB’s weather routing and voyage optimisation data with Cydome’s cyber risk management platform, shipping companies enhance their risk visibility and make more informed operational decisions,” said Nir Ayalon, Chief Executive Officer of Cydome.
The collaboration is intended to enable shipping companies to assess risks associated with vessel operations, across both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure.
“Shipping companies need insights that reflect the reality of vessel operations, and with the digitalisation of shipping, you can’t separate ship operations from cyber operations anymore,” said Michael Greavette, Head of Vessel & Voyage Performance at ABB, Marine & Ports Division.
