SSI and PipeCloud partner to integrate ship design data

Digital shipbuilding platform SSI and pipe prefabrication software developer PipeCloud have announced a new partnership and integration designed to connect shipbuilding engineering data directly with pipe spool fabrication.

The combined platform links the SSI digital shipbuilding system with the pipe prefabrication capabilities of PipeCloud, enabling shipyards to create a more complete digital thread from design and engineering through to workshop execution.

This will connect structured shipbuilding information from three-dimensional computer-aided design (3D CAD) environments directly to pipe prefabrication planning, automation, and production control.

The integration allows shipbuilders to reduce manual handoffs between engineering and production, replace fragmented spreadsheets and paper-based workflows, and improve planning accuracy.

“Shipbuilders have made significant progress digitising design and engineering, but critical workflows like pipe fabrication are still too often disconnected,” said Denis Morais, Chief Executive Officer of SSI.

“Our partnership with PipeCloud extends the digital twin into the workshop, creating a more complete digital thread from design intent through production. This gives shipyards the ability to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and ultimately build with greater confidence and control.”

The integrated system is designed specifically for naval and commercial shipyards, connecting upstream shipbuilding data with downstream execution.
