NAVTOR has released the latest version of its digital logbook platform, version 2.6.23, featuring an integrated visitor log alongside a remaining on board (ROB) reporting function designed to assist with regulatory compliance and reduce crew workloads.
The release also includes simplified logbooks tailored for the ferry and small boat sector to enable on-the-go log management.
NAVTOR’s digital logbook platform has been adopted by more than 1,500 vessels, providing real-time, automated and artificial intelligence-driven log-keeping that captures and shares data across fleets and organisations.
According to the company, the integrated visitor management function allows for consistent compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code. Meanwhile, the ROB report simplifies the tracking of fuel, oily water, sludge waste collections, ballast water and fresh water onboard.
The improvements should limit the duplication of entries across logs and environmental reports, synchronising daily operational updates with reports required by charterers, compliance departments, technical teams and International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) logs.
“Digital logbooks represent smart shipping in action. They provide clarity and consistency, seamless information sharing for faster, more informed decisions, and a unique platform for continual improvement across both single vessels and entire fleets,” said Amitabh Sankranti, Shipping Analytics Director at NAVTOR.
“In addition, the benefits for crews are enormous. Data entry into digital devices can be completed on the go, while automated processes slash workloads and greatly reduce duplication of tasks. When you add in the smart productivity gains you have a powerful source of business efficiency and development.”
