OceanPass has announced a partnership with Veracity by DNV to connect its emissions-intelligence platform with DNV-verified vessel data, delivered through the Veracity platform and Emissions Connect.
The move aims to provide users with a view of financed emissions alongside annual reporting, to support the daily financing and commercial decisions made by banks and charterers.
While the Poseidon Principles established a common standard for measuring emissions associated with shipping loans, the framework relies on annual reporting cycles, with lenders typically receive alignment scores 12 to 15 months after a reporting period closes. To address this, DNV enables continuous daily verification of emissions data through its Emissions Connect and Veracity platforms to provide a live feed.
“Scaling maritime decarbonisation is not a technology problem or a data problem. It’s a coordination problem,” said Matthew Galston, CEO of OceanPass.
“By the time a bank sees its emissions number, the loan is signed, the capital is deployed, and the ship has been trading for a year. We give banks the view while the decision is still in their hands.”
Under the partnership, this verified data is connected to OceanPass to inform its live portfolio intelligence for financial institutions. OceanPass combines the DNV data with blind-validated estimates for vessels without a live feed, allowing banks to track a larger share of their portfolios.
“By extending DNV’s independently verified data into continuous portfolio insight, we give banks a more current and reliable basis for the decisions that shape investment decisions,” said Mikkel Skou, Executive Director of Veracity by DNV.
