Port of San Diego to pilot emissions platform

The Port of San Diego is to pilot PortXchange’s EmissionInsider platform as part of its Blue Economy Incubator (BEI) programme, in support of the port’s Maritime Clean Air Strategy (MCAS) and wider decarbonisation objectives.

The Port of San Diego Board of Port Commissioners approved the deal to make EmissionInsider the 14th project selected for the incubator, which aims to support sustainable ocean-based technologies.

The PortXchange platform is designed to help ports collect, integrate, analyse and report emissions data across their operations, providing visibility of direct, indirect and value chain emissions. It is intended to identify where emissions occur, highlight operational bottlenecks and support environmental planning and reporting by providing an inventory of emissions from ships and other activities beyond a port’s direct control.

“We are truly proud to partner with the Port of San Diego, a port that has long set the standard for environmental leadership in the United States,” said Sjoerd de Jager, PortXchange Co-Founder and Managing Director.

“Decarbonisation is the defining challenge of our time, and moments like these remind us why we do what we do. With EmissionInsider, we’re helping ports better understand emissions from ships and other outside operations they don’t directly control, so they can take informed action to reduce air pollution and advance decarbonisation.”
