PTC and bigyellowfish expand access to seafarer health platform

Philippines-based maritime workforce provider Philippine Transmarine Carriers (PTC) and its subsidiary Jebsen PTC Maritime (JPMI) have signed an agreement with bigyellowfish to expand access to the company’s health and wellness platform for Filipino seafarers.

The platform is designed to provide shipowners and managers with health risk data for crews and vessels to help reduce onboard incidents and medical repatriations.

It also gives seafarers access to health resources and personalised content covering nutrition, fitness, mental wellbeing and preventative care onboard and ashore. The application includes gamification features intended to encourage healthier habits.

PTC and JPMI will initially roll out the platform through pilot projects with selected shipping principals, with wellness programmes tailored to individual fleet requirements before wider deployment.

Health Metrics (HMI), PTC and JPMI’s health diagnostics partner, will provide medical expertise in the design and implementation of health interventions for participating seafarers.

Through the platform, crew managers and ship managers will be able to monitor vessel health risk profiles to support planning aimed at reducing health-related incidents and medical repatriations.

“bigyellowfish’s mission has always been to create an infrastructure for human reliability, sustainability and adaptability,” said Capt Soma Sundar Gollakota, CEO, bigyellowfish.

“To that end, this partnership reinforces our commitment towards actualising that vision. We thank the PTC group and all our customers and partners in supporting this vision.”
