Anschütz updates bridge software with new navigation functions

Anschütz has released a SYNAPSIS software update adding new functions for Radar, ECDIS and Conning applications, including tools for passage planning, anchoring and harbour operations.

The update includes integration of external data through a Generic Overlay function, with a forward-looking sonar system also integrated as a prototype. The function is aimed at vessels including superyachts, expedition ships, research vessels, offshore units and workboats requiring additional information alongside navigation data.

The Conning user interface has been updated with layouts designed around open bridge principles, while the software also now includes graphical visualisation of Ship Helicopter Operating Limits (SHOL) to support ship-helicopter and aerial drone operations.

For confined and shallow-water navigation, Asymmetric Cross Track Distance (XTD) allows different safety margins to be set for the port and starboard sides of a planned route.

Shallowest Leg Depth displays the minimum depth within the defined XTD corridor for each route leg, providing additional information for under keel clearance monitoring and passage planning. The data can also be exported to support verification of passage plans.

The update additionally adds dual anchor monitoring, adjustable alarm ranges and drag-and-drop configuration to the Anchor Watch function.

Harbour Mode suppresses selected non-relevant alerts when vessels are alongside or in port, while Blackout Mode allows alerts to be temporarily silenced in controlled situations, with safeguards included to prevent unintended use.
