ABS and lomarlabs have signed a Master Research Collaboration Agreement (MRCA) to evaluate early-stage technologies for maritime applications, with an initial project focused on a fuel reformer from Blaze Energy.
The agreement provides a framework for ABS and lomarlabs to share technical expertise and advisory services with startups during the research, development and testing of their technologies.
The first project will involve Blaze Energy’s fuel reformer, which is designed to be integrated with marine engines and support the use of alternative fuels.
The partners will focus on moving the technology from laboratory testing towards deployment on a commercial vessel, with ABS providing technology qualification support.
“The most important step toward commercial deployment for maritime hardware technology is moving from lab-proven to vessel-proven — demonstrating performance under real operating conditions at sea,” said Rok Sitar, Blaze Energy Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder.
“We are excited to partner with ABS and lomarlabs, on a programme that addresses exactly this challenge. It gives Blaze Energy a structured, accelerated path toward pilot vessel deployment and, ultimately, full regulatory approval.”
