GreenSteam agrees to buy BMT SMART

Maritime machine learning company GreenSteam has announced that it has reached an agreement with UK-headquartered BMT to acquire its data collection and performance optimisation subsidiary firm BMT SMART.

GreenSteam, majority owned by BP/Castrol, uses machine learning and AI technologies to provide services to support the sustainable development of global seaborn trading. The purchase of SMART follows a strategic business review by GreenSteam which recommended an expansion of its portfolio of services, to extend its data collection capabilities and expand its service team.

“GreenSteam pioneered the application of machine learning in marine vessel optimisation and was the first to market with a platform that can accurately analyse a ship’s performance and is quickly becoming the world’s leading brand for optimising vessel efficiency,” said Shaun Gray, Executive Chairman of GreenSteam.

“We are very pleased to take on board BMT SMART and integrate their services with our own, this will further accelerate the growth phase that we are already experiencing across all marine sectors.”

“With the purchase of BMT SMART we can offer our customers even more performance insights and a greater level of service.”
