Pangaea expands use of AI voyage analysis system

Maritime artificial intelligence start-up Nautilus Labs reports that it has extended its agreement with bulk carrier and ice class vessel operator Pangaea Logistics Solutions to now cover 12 vessels in the Pangaea fleet.

Pangaea, headquartered in Rhode Island in the US, first started working with Nautilus Labs in October 2018, and is using the firm’s system to capture high frequency vessel data and analyse fleet performance in real-time.

This data analysis forms the basis for operating recommendations sent out from the system to ships and operators to optimise each voyage’s outcome.

“We are excited to work with Nautilus in implementing their platform into our operations to be able to harness, and effectively use, the performance data accumulated across our fleet,” said Mads Petersen, Managing Director at Pangaea’s Nordic Bulk Carriers.

“This is an important step towards reducing the emissions from our operations by optimising vessels’ routing and speed, and in turn expand our industry-leading TCE earnings premiums.”
