Class society ABS has partnered with tech accelerator Rainmaking to operate a support programme for entrepreneurs with maritime decarbonisation technologies.

The joint programme aims to identify technology start-ups and deliver scalable pilots and ventures through six-month long sprints.

ABS will act as a technical advisor to evaluate the proposed technologies for their potential contribution to IMO decarbonisation goals, providing support for rapid testing and development of systems with the potential to reduce CO2 emissions.

“ABS is supporting the development of the maritime decarbonisation technologies ecosystem as part of our commitment to putting the shipping industry on a sustainable footing,” said Georgios Plevrakis, ABS Director, Global Sustainability Strategy.

“By collaborating with Rainmaking, we are ensuring the transformational ideas our industry needs to reach its decarbonisation goals are identified and supported to rapidly achieve the scale required to make a significant contribution.”
