Tidewater begins digital transformation project

Offshore Service Vessels (OSV) operator Tidewater has begun a transformation project to optimise the lifecycle of its assets through the implementation of a harmonised Fleet Management System (FMS) across its entire fleet.

The company has signed a partnership agreement with Tero Marine to provide best practice consultancy services and manage a fleetwide implementation of the Tero Marine TM Master fleet management software package, as part of a wider Operations Excellence initiative at Tidewater to transform its fleet to global systems and processes.

This project aims to create efficiencies through automation and digitalisation, connecting and integrating onshore and offshore operations, and supporting scalability to optimise fleet efficiency for new acquisitions, such as Tidewater’s acquisition of Swire Pacific Offshore, which was announced on March 9.

Processes and best practices will be strategically unified across the group, to eliminate fragmentation and reduce the administrative burden on ship and shore-based teams. This centralised approach will also provide increased data transparency, making it easier to verify safety-critical checks onboard and provide real-time oversight and control over operations.

“The financial drivers for these savings are based on achieving industry best in class practices,” said Tidewater Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Sam R Rubio.

“Savings will only be achieved by optimising processes and securing acceptance across the fleet. TM Master software is an enabler, but it is our crews and onshore resources that will make this a successful transition. Change management is a critical success factor for any transformation.”
