Oldendorff to add Signal Ocean Platform to its range of tech tools

Dry bulk ship owner and operator Oldendorff Carriers is to implement the Signal Ocean Platform to provide digital support for its commercial operations and research, following a new agreement between the firms.

Signal Ocean combines Artificial Intelligence and data fusion and forecasting models to process company data, delivering customised insight for decision-making, negotiation and trading.

The system incorporates data from AIS, emails (fixtures, positions, cargoes and lineups), messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Slack and MS Teams, and other user inputs to create a unified data source for each company.

Access is provided via web browsers, a mobile app, APIs, or Signal’s data warehouse.

“The Signal Ocean Platform is a modern, comprehensive and flexible technology solution that aligns with Oldendorff Carriers’ ambitious systems strategy,” said Sönke Hörlyk, CTO at Oldendorff Carriers.

“We’re also greatly impressed by the Signal team’s attentiveness and responsiveness to our needs.”

Oldendorff Carriers has made significant investments in improving its digital capabilities in the last couple of years, implementing new software systems from companies like BASS and Blue Water, while also making investments in maritime tech start-ups such as Groke Technologies and Alpha Ori Technologies.
