Intellian launches flat panel antenna range for OneWeb LEO network

Intellian Technologies and low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite operator OneWeb have announced the launch of a new range of Intellian flat panel antennas for use on OneWeb’s network.

The terminals, available in both Pro and Compact packages, will be made available to maritime and other connectivity markets.

The flat panel antennas are based on active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology, incorporating a custom vector-amplifier phased array chipset and artificial intelligence software algorithms for beam forming and beam shaping.

To support the frequent changes in connected satellites required for the OneWeb network, the units have been designed with beam pointing and tracking systems optimised for sub milli-second satellite handovers.

“Our evolution into flat panel user terminals has been an exceptionally exciting and intense development, that has not only stretched the boundaries of our own technological prowess but has also redefined the possibilities within the industry,” said Eric Sung, President and CEO at Intellian Technologies.

“With such a sleek, optimised SWaP (Size, Weight and Power) form factor user terminal that doesn’t compromise on performance, our Flat Panel Series are unlike anything OneWeb’s customers have experienced to date. We’re proudly empowering their connectivity with these initial four flat panel user terminal series.”

The OW11FL enterprise Pro terminal will be first to market in Q1 2024, with the OW11FM mobility Pro terminal, suitable for maritime use, to follow shortly thereafter. Compact terminals for both fixed and mobility use are expected to be introduced in the second half of the year.

“We are delighted to partner with Intellian once again to bring these AESA terminals to the market and add them to OneWeb’s comprehensive suite of terminal solutions,” said Massimiliano Ladovaz, CTO at OneWeb.

“Intellian’s Flat Panel Series will cater to a range of diverse market segments and uses. By combining Intellian’s industry-leading technology with OneWeb’s fast, reliable, low-latency network capabilities, we will continue to provide customers with dependable and flexible connectivity solutions that meet their needs worldwide.”
