GNV (Grandi Navi Veloci) reports that it has agreed a new contract with Marlink subsidiary Telemar for the management and maintenance of GMDSS and navigation safety installations on its newbuildings GNV Polaris, GNV Orion and GNV Virgo, constructed at CSSC shipyard Guangzhou.
The new ships will provide ferry services in the Mediterranean and beyond for MSC Group company GNV, which operates a fleet of 25 ships across 31 lines in 7 countries.
The contract with Telemar aims to consolidate service of critical bridge navigation equipment with a single provider, reducing the risk of non-compliance as scheduled service will be planned to agreed timeframes rather than carried out on an ‘ad hoc’ basis.
The company will also use the data collected during maintenance to optimise asset lifecycles and create further efficiencies, such as delivering more repairs remotely.
