Freight forwarder Röhlig Logistics reports that it has begun offering real-time ‘Live Position’ data on containers across sea, rail, and road using Hapag-Lloyd’s tracking technology.
By integrating Hapag-Lloyd’s Live Position API into its systems, Röhlig will enable customers to accurately track their containers, similar to parcel tracking, with real-time updates and the specific geographic location of the container.
The Hapag-Lloyd system leverages Internet of Things (IoT) devices attached to the containers that transmit location data every 15 minutes. This information is fed into Röhlig’s operational systems via an API, which was co-developed by Hapag-Lloyd and Röhlig’s digital spin-off, cargonerds.
“We are thrilled to be the first freight forwarder to bring this level of transparency and control to our customers. This new functionality redefines supply chain visibility, enabling shippers and consignees to make informed, proactive decisions,” said Conrad Franchi, Chief Digital Officer at Röhlig Logistics.
“We are dedicated to being a trusted partner in digital logistics, driving innovation and progress to meet our customers’ evolving needs. With this latest milestone, we are delivering a solution that sets a new benchmark for the industry.”
