Sun Princess installs remote monitoring system

Princess Cruises has completed a pilot installation of the NACOS Connect remote mimics application on its new flagship Sun Princess, with the aim of improving shoreside visibility into the ship’s automation systems.

The technology, delivered by Wärtsilä ANCS, enables real-time access to onboard data from shore, allowing multiple remote users to monitor different automation mimics simultaneously, improving remote support and ongoing performance analysis.

The pilot follows a 2021 agreement between Wärtsilä and Princess Cruises focused on advancing digital technologies for maritime operations.

“Our collaboration with Wärtsilä ANCS has delivered a system that aligns perfectly with our automation and monitoring objectives by enhancing our ability to remotely support ship operations by providing real-time access to vital systems data,” said James Webb, Senior Manager, Automation for Princess Cruises.

Sun Princess is the first in Princess Cruises’ new Sphere Class, designed with an emphasis on sustainability and advanced digital capabilities.
