Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) has agreed a deal to deploy Syroco’s weather routing and voyage optimisation platform on the juice carrier Atlantic Orchard, as part of efforts to improve energy efficiency and assess the performance of wind-assisted propulsion.
The Atlantic Orchard, chartered by LDC and operated by Wisby Tankers, was recently fitted with four eSAIL systems from bound4blue. The Syroco Live platform will be used to optimise routing and track performance data to quantify fuel and emissions savings linked to the wind propulsion systems.
Syroco Live uses real-time data to recalibrate a vessel’s digital twin and assess hundreds of thousands of routing options using AI-powered algorithms. The system accounts for vessel-specific energy requirements and metocean data to deliver an optimised route.
A voyage monitoring service, Syroco Onwatch, is also available to provide operational insights and performance reports.
Syroco says its platform is currently in use on more than 100 vessels. The company raised €7.5 million in a Series A funding round in late 2024 to support ongoing product development and expansion.
