The Hood launches application tracking tool to tackle recruitment ‘ghosting’

Social media application The Hood has added a new Career Hub feature to its seafarer recruitment platform, aiming to address the lack of feedback many jobseekers experience during the application process.

The tool provides live application tracking, allowing candidates to see the status of submissions in real time via the dashboard, with options to withdraw applications. The company says the feature is designed to improve transparency in hiring.

Studies cited by The Hood indicate that 41% of applicants doubt their CVs are ever reviewed, while nearly a third believe they will receive no response. Research also links prolonged application uncertainty to higher stress, pessimism and disengagement among jobseekers.

“This is not about convenience. It is about basic transparency,” said The Hood Founder and Managing Director Josephine Le.

“Jobseekers today are expected to invest hours into applications only to be met with total silence. That lack of clarity creates real emotional strain. We believe people deserve to know where they stand.”
