Tele2 IoT has launched a new global satellite IoT connectivity service in partnership with Skylo, becoming the first Swedish operator to offer a commercial 3GPP-based direct-to-device satellite IoT system.
The service is designed to maintain connectivity for IoT devices in areas beyond traditional mobile network coverage, including remote and maritime environments.
By integrating Skylo’s 3GPP-compliant Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) technology, Tele2 IoT enables automatic switching between terrestrial and satellite networks. The system provides uninterrupted data connectivity to support critical operations.

“By partnering with Skylo, we are removing the final coverage gaps and ensuring our customers’ devices stay online – whether at sea, in rural terrain, or other remote locations. This launch is an important step in our ambition to deliver reliable, simple, and global IoT connectivity.”
The company says that the new service will allow IoT devices to remain connected without additional hardware.
