Yang Ming Marine Transport and PSA International have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on low-carbon technologies and services designed to reduce emissions across global supply chains.
The agreement covers the development of a joint maritime and landside decarbonisation offering combining Yang Ming’s EcoSea+ green shipping service with PSA’s terminal and inland logistics operations.
EcoSea+ integrates Yang Ming’s low-carbon navigation initiatives to help customers reduce Scope 3 transport emissions, while PSA’s contribution includes its electrified terminal operations as part of its Node to Network strategy.
The companies also plan to develop a digital book-and-claim framework and a joint maritime-land inset package to provide cargo owners with a verifiable method of reducing transport-related emissions.
“Enhancing green competitiveness is at the heart of Yang Ming’s operations,” said Kevin Lee, President of Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation.
“As no single company can achieve supply chain decarbonisation alone, we are pleased to partner with PSA, to provide sea-land joint carbon inset package.”
Yang Ming said it had reduced its carbon intensity by 63.32% by the end of 2025 compared with 2008 levels.
The company said the partnership will extend the reach of its sustainability initiatives beyond ocean transport by combining them with PSA’s port and landside capabilities.
“As responsible stewards of tomorrow, PSA is committed to delivering sustainable impact across the global port and supply chain ecosystem,” said Ong Kim Pong, Group CEO of PSA International.
“Tackling the challenges arising from climate change will require the collective efforts of all players in the maritime supply chain sector.”
