Weilbach integrates optimisation tech into navigation platform

Weilbach has integrated Optimum Voyage’s voyage optimisation technology into its Weilbach platform, allowing users to optimise vessel routes and speeds directly from routes created in Weilbach Viewer.

Weilbach Optimizer uses vessel-specific performance models together with weather and ocean data to assess route and speed variations while respecting navigability and the constraints of the original route.

The system evaluates millions of route and speed combinations against the latest forecasts and currents to provide route and speed recommendations.

The technology is designed to help reduce fuel consumption, limit exposure to heavy weather and improve ETA reliability, while leaving the final navigation decision with the crew.

“With Weilbach Optimizer, crews get practical, navigable route options built on the same engine that optimises more than 700 vessels every day, and the final decision always remains on the bridge,” said Martin Hjorth Simonsen, CEO of Optimum Voyage.
