Telenor Maritime has announced a new a strategic partnership with European cybersecurity software vendor Wallix, with the aim of delivering secure remote access systems for shipowners and external maintenance providers.
The new partners will offer ship operators tools to ensure compliance with the new NIS2 regulations, part of the EU’s revised Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems, which impose stricter requirements on cybersecurity for critical infrastructure, including the maritime sector.
The remote access offering is focused on control and visibility of equipment on board, so that in times of cyber threats, the captain – who holds ultimate responsibility for the vessel – has the ability to manage and grant access to onboard systems as required, knowing exactly who is accessing the ship’s equipment, for how long, and for what purpose.
“Our partnership with Wallix reflects our commitment to equipping the maritime sector with robust, compliant solutions,” said Morten Martens Breivik, Chief Strategy Officer, Telenor Maritime.
“By integrating Wallix’s advanced cybersecurity products with our expertise, we are enabling ship operators to meet the complex standards with confidence. The partnership is about more than just compliance—it’s also about putting the control back in the hands of the shipowner, ensuring security and more sustainable maritime practices, giving them peace of mind.”
