PIL to work with ABS on maritime technology and sustainability

Pacific International Lines (PIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with class society ABS to collaborate on maritime technology, sustainability, and safety management initiatives.

The agreement provides a framework for technical knowledge exchange and joint exploration of new maritime technologies, with the ABS Technology and Singapore Innovation Research Centre to support PIL’s new vessel construction and retrofit projects through modelling and simulation.

ABS sustainability specialists will work with PIL on an energy-efficiency strategy, conducting techno-economic studies and implementing decarbonisation measures to improve environmental performance.

Safety will also be a key focus, with ABS providing guidance on Port State Control compliance and aligning safety standards with global best practices.

“This MOU reinforces our commitment and supports our plans to future-proof our fleet,” said Lars Kastrup, CEO of PIL.

“Partnering with ABS allows us to leverage world-class expertise to drive innovation, advance decarbonisation, and enhance safety management.”

“This long-term collaboration is a testament to our dedication to driving progress, ensuring that we stay ahead of regulatory changes while maintaining operational excellence and environmental responsibility.”

PIL has recently taken delivery of four new vessels and has 14 more on order.
