The National Maritime Research Institute (NMRI) in Japan has released APIs for its OCTARVIA programs on the NMRI Cloud, designed to analyse and evaluate ship performance in real-world conditions.
The release includes APIs for three distinct programs originally developed under the Japan Maritime Cluster Collaborative Research Project on Evaluation of Ship Performance in Actual Seas.
The SALVIA-OCT.-API handles onboard monitoring data analysis, while the OCTARVIA-API estimates ship lifecycle fuel consumption. The third, EAGLE-OCT.-API, provides ship form and performance data based on principal dimensions.
NMRI is providing these interfaces to enable external applications to access functions that were previously limited to web-based platforms, allowing for easier processing of large volumes of data.
The initiative is intended to support data-driven energy-efficient operations and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions across the shipping sector. The technical specifications for integration follow those of the existing web versions, allowing companies to directly incorporate the estimation models into their own platforms.
