CYTUR cyber security digital twin gets LR approval

South Korean maritime cybersecurity firm CYTUR has received an Approval in Principle (AiP) for the use of its digital twin system for maritime cybersecurity from Lloyd’s Register (LR).

The CYTUR-MG (CYTUR Maritime Guard) platform has been developed to automate management of compliance with regulations governing cyber resilience for new vessels, specifically the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) Unified Requirements (UR) E26 and E27. These rules require ships to maintain real-time asset inventories and network topologies during operation, alongside continuous cyber threat detection.

The system functions as an intelligent integrated cyber resilience management platform for vessels with integrated collect, analyse, and manage functions for cyber resilience operations. Built on digital twin topology technology, it delivers real-time automated management of asset inventories and network topologies for all onboard Computer-Based Systems (CBS).

The platform also features artificial intelligence-driven threat detection, maritime-specific protections like Global Positioning System (GPS) spoofing detection, and the automated generation of records required to maintain IACS UR E26/E27 certification.

“This CYTUR-MG AiP is an important milestone demonstrating that maritime cybersecurity is evolving beyond mere regulatory compliance into operational technology that continuously assures the safety of vessels and fleets during operation. Through our full-lifecycle vessel cybersecurity platform spanning design to operation, CYTUR will support shipyards, ship owners, equipment manufacturers, and naval and maritime defense customers in achieving secure digital transformation,” said Jo Yong-hyun, Chief Executive Officer of CYTUR Inc.

“Through collaboration with ship owners, shipbuilders, and maritime organisations both domestically and internationally, CYTUR will establish itself as a leader in setting global maritime cybersecurity standards.”
