Monterro becomes majority owner of Grieg Connect

Swedish investment firm Monterro is to become the majority owner of Grieg Connect, with the partnership intended to support the software company’s international expansion and further development of its products using AI.

Grieg Connect provides applications for port, terminal and ferry operations, including port call management, berth planning and invoicing.

The company says it will use the new investment to expand across Europe and other international markets, both organically and through acquisitions.

The deal will also support the use of AI within Grieg Connect’s software, with Monterro providing expertise in software technology, AI, go-to-market strategy and international expansion.

“We have followed Grieg Connect for some time and have been impressed by the team, the product and the strong market position they have built,” said Nils Olsson, incoming Chair of Grieg Connect at Monterro.

The Grieg Group will remain invested in the company as a minority owner, with Markus Grieg continuing to represent the group on Grieg Connect’s board.

Grieg Connect CEO Espen Ranvik said the company had been seeking a partner with experience in scaling software companies to support its international expansion.
